If you are lying on your back, roll to your side. When you roll, visualize your trunk (torso) as a log so that you don’t twist your spine.
To roll like a log to the left, tighten your belly muscles and reach with your right arm as you push with your right leg. To roll like a log to the right, tighten your belly muscles and reach with your left arm as you push with your left leg.
Once you are lying on your side, push away from the bed with your arms as you drop your legs over the side of the bed.
